Employees from R3 working at Mineração Morro do Ipê were given the opportunity to train as Wheel Loader or Drill Rig Operators. Candidates were selected through an internal process for those holding a Category D driver’s license, also considering professional profile criteria such as discipline, punctuality, and other relevant behavioral traits.
Currently, 11 individuals are specializing in wheel loader operation and five in drill rig operation. The courses consist of 160 hours of theoretical classes and three months of practical training each. During field learning, technicians are mentored by a “master driver”—a specialist who monitors and teaches the practical aspects of the job.

One of the students already in the practical phase is Divino Marciano Dias. A resident of Igarapé who joined the company a year and a half ago, Dias says this opportunity has even changed his personal life:
“I was a truck driver for 18 years. The pressure of the roads and the delivery deadlines at my previous jobs made me an anxious person. Now, knowing that this role requires calmness and focus, I’ve noticed I’m more relaxed even with my family. I learned to respect the timing of things. I ended up falling in love with the drill rig equipment and even changed my lifestyle habits,” he shares with satisfaction.
This initiative not only strengthens the professionals’ resumes but also fosters knowledge exchange and employee appreciation.
