Morro do Ipê and Porto Sudeste Receive International Certifications Reaffirming Focus on Ethics and Integrity

Mineração Morro do Ipê, a mining company located in Minas Gerais, and Porto Sudeste, a private enterprise in the Itaguaí region, have renewed their ISO 37001 (Anti-Bribery Management Systems) certification and achieved the ISO 37301 (Compliance Management Systems) certification. This achievement places both companies within a select group of organizations that adhere to the highest international standards of governance, ethics, and corporate integrity. The two enterprises operate jointly: all iron ore extracted by Mineração Morro do Ipê is exported through Porto Sudeste.

“The renewal of ISO 37001 and the attainment of ISO 37301 reflect the ethical and transparent culture we have implemented over the years across our companies. These certifications inspire confidence among our professionals, partners, and society as a whole. We believe that compliance is not a destination, but a continuous journey of responsibility and evolution,” stated Jayme Nicolato, CEO of PSB and MMI.

ISO certifications are granted following rigorous audits conducted by bodies accredited by Inmetro. These certifications attest that Porto Sudeste and Mineração Morro do Ipê maintain policies, processes, and practices consistent with international requirements aimed at preventing irregularities, promoting legal compliance, and effectively combating corruption.

The standards are established by ISO (International Organization for Standardization), an independent international organization based in Geneva that brings together experts from over 160 countries. The objective is to develop and publish international standards that promote the quality, safety, efficiency, and interoperability of products, services, and systems. This initiative fosters global trade and best practices across various sectors of the economy.

ISO 37301 establishes guidelines for implementing effective compliance systems, ensuring the company operates in accordance with laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Meanwhile, ISO 37001 is specifically focused on the prevention, detection, and response to bribery, contributing to fairer and more sustainable business environments.
